Stone Sour canceled the remainder of its U.S. spring tour after drummer Roy Mayorga, 41, suffered a “minor stroke” following the band’s May 15 show in Des Moines, Iowa.
A release issued by the band stated “He's doing great and is expected to make a 100% recovery. We apologize to all the fans and look forward to getting back out on the road with Roy in the coming months.”
The band had only a handful of show left on their itinerary after touring extensively to promote the 2010 releaseAudio Secrecy. The canceled gigs were in Rapid City, South Dakota; Fargo, North Dakota; Detroit, Michigan; Libertyville, Illinois; and Columbus, Ohio.
Mayorga joined Stone Sour in 2006 after long tenures with Soulfly, Nausea, and a host of other metal bands.
