Casey Royer Sentenced To 90 Days

UPDATE: The Orange County Superior Court sentenced Casey Royer, current drummer with D.I., to 90 days in jail for one count of being under the influence of a controlled substance. He also was charged with child abuse and endangerment – in relation to shooting up heroin and overdosing in front of his 12-year-old son – but the charges were dismissed by prosecutors. Royer will be on probation for three years.
March 16, 2011. Casey Royer shouldn’t expect much fanfare this coming father’s day. The 52-year-old punk rock drummer (The Adolescents, Social Distortion, D.I.) was arrested last week for child endangerment and heroin possession – not a good combination at all. Reportedly, Royer’s 12-year-old son rushed to a neighbor’s house for aid after seeing his father shoot up heroin and subsequently overdose as the two watched television in their Orange County home. Royer was rushed to a hospital where he was revived, then arrested on Monday, March 14, by police who were notified by Royer’s neighbors. Police reported that his home was littered with drug paraphenalia and trash. Royer is being held on $120,000 bail.
