The process literally begins at the root: with the shell. Close proximity to America's best resource for wood -and wood workers- was key in Ludwig's relocation from Chicago to North Carolina in 1980. Only the most choice cuts of prime, white American Maple are procured for cross-lamination in Ludwig shell panels. All panels are stored in a climate-controlled humidor and hand-selected to assure the best sonic and visual pairing.
