Sonor Adds Steve Smith Model To Signature Snare Line

After the Phil Rudd and Danny Carey models stimulated salivary glands of snare drum collectors a couple years ago, the historic German drum maker Sonor throttled into high gear and just yesterday announced the addition of a Steve Smith model that is sure to captivate fusionheads. Slated for release in early 2011, the 14" x 5.5" snare drum is built around a 2.5mm cast steel shell with 2.5mm reinforcement rings and two air vents. Fittings include vintage style Phonic lugs with integrated TuneSafe (a locking features that prevents tension rods from loosening), die-cast hoops, 24-strand steel snare wires, and a Remo Fiberskyn3 batter head in Diplomat thickness. Naturally, it wouldn’t be a Sonor Signature snare without a unique signature badge, which features Smith’s John Hancock engraved on a re-issue of the Hilite Exclusive badge. You can expect to see more Sonor Signature snares in short order.
